Uploading a video¶
Uploading happens in the ThrowSage dashboard, in any browser. If you were invited by a link, the dashboard is what you were invited to. (Recordings made in the ThrowSage phone app are sent with the app's Sync button instead — see What makes a good video.)
1. Sign in¶
Open the dashboard and sign in with the address your invitation was sent to. You land on your Throws page, which is where everything starts. Every other page in the top bar — Compare, Roster, Analytics, Settings — is reachable from there.
If this is your first time and you have not uploaded anything yet, the page reads "No throws yet — upload a video or drag a throw here."
2. Upload the file¶
Two ways, both on the Throws page:
- Click Upload Video in the toolbar above the grid and pick the file, or
- drag the video file from your desktop straight onto the grid.
The file goes up as-is. There is a 100 MB limit; a 1080p clip of a single throw is normally comfortably under it. If your file is larger, it is almost always because the clip is long — trim it to the throw before uploading, or film a shorter clip.
Ordinary phone and camera video works — the clips your phone produces, usually .mp4 or
.mov. If a file cannot be read as usable video — it is corrupt, is not really a video, or
is too low-resolution — you get an error message on the page rather than a silent failure.
3. What you see immediately¶
A card appears in the grid with your file's name and date, and a thumbnail. Its four
metric slots — Speed, Distance, Duration, Turns — all read —. That is correct: nothing
has been measured yet.
What happens between that card appearing and those numbers filling in is the next page.
