How to trim a clip

ThrowSage analyses clips of 15 seconds or less. The best clips are 3 to 10 seconds: start just before the wind-up and stop just after the ball leaves the hand.

Clips between 15 and 60 seconds

Upload them as they are. The dashboard accepts the clip and asks for a trim: the card's scissors control pulses, and the trim link in the notice opens the trimmer with the whole clip selected. The strip of small frames under the timeline shows where the throw is; click a frame to jump there. Drag the green IN handle to just before the wind-up and the orange OUT handle to just after the release (each handle shows its time; I and O set them at the current frame). Keep the span to 15 seconds or less and click Save This Throw; a longer span is refused with a message and nothing is saved. Pressing Analyze on an untrimmed clip opens the same trimmer and starts the analysis once the trim is saved.

Clips over 60 seconds

The upload is refused. Trim the clip on the device first, then upload it again.

What to keep

  • Wind-up through release: the swings, the turns, and the ball leaving the hand.
  • Leave about half a second before the first swing and after release.
  • One throw per clip.
